KAP OHANA GRAPEVINE
Aloha      News & Events
The next family reunion is set for May 22 - 24, 2009 at Kekaha, Kauai, Hawaii at the Recreation Center. Coordinators of the reunion are:
  • Jan Michael Aipoalani
  • Gweneth Cardejon
  • Joy Aipoalani
Meetings:
Family members on Oahu began meeting about the reunion on October 12, 2008 at the Moanalua Gardens. All were welcome to join us at the meetings. Last Sunday, April 19, 2009, was our last official group meeting. Hereafter, communications will be one to one as needed.

T-Shirt:
Understanding that this is very last minute, if you did not submit your T-shirt Order to Jan Michael, please telephone him at 808-342-0308 as soon as possible to see what he can do. The deadline was April 20, 2009.

Luau:
You also need to provide your head count and funds for the Luau, which is also included on the same order form as the T-shirts. Please submit that to Jan Michael as soon as you can. If you require other arrangements, please telephone or email him.

Kalua Pig Fundraiser:
We are having our Kalua Pig fundraiser. We are selling it for $6 per pound. They will be cooking the port butts this Friday, April 24, 2009 and will be packaging everything Saturday afternoon. If you are available to assist with any portion of the cooking and packaging, please let Jan Michael know. He will let you know where to go and the times to be there. Anyone wishing to participate in this fund raising can contact Jan Michael by Wednesday, April 22, 2009 to provide the number of pounds you would like. Please remember that funds are required on pick-up. Pick-up will be after 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2009. Contact Jan Michael for pick up arrangements. The proceeds of this fundraiser will be to purchase the food and eating utensils for the reunion, with the exception of the Luau. So please, kokua.
Meals:
Breakfasts will be continental style breakfast for a matter of convenience.

Friday night, because we have family members flying into Kauai, instead of burdening any one family group with having to purchase or make dishes for the potluck dinner, we will be providing Chili, Chicken Hecka, Salad and Rice. If others would like to provide other dishes, you are more than welcome to do so, but it is not required.

Saturday lunch will be Sandwiches and Chips.

Sunday lunch will also come from the fundraising funds, therefore, individual families are not required to make or bring separate dishes. Again, however, if you wish to provide a dish, you are very welcome to do so.

Photos:
We have a photographer that will be available to take pictures Friday and Saturday. Friday and Saturday night, he will be taking inidividual family group photos. Saturday evening at 5:00 PM we will all gather at the recreation center to take our family group photo. We need to all plan to be on time.

Instead of ordering the family group photo in advance, what we are doing this year is providing a disk with the photos. This enables individuals to print the photos that they want at their own cost. The cost for the photographer will come from the fundraising.

We will continue to update the website as new information arises. This is an open forum website for the family to share information.

This is a family reunion. The more we have assisting with all phases; the planning, the preparation, the cooking, the setting up and the clean up, the better the reunion will be. Please kokua. Review the Reunion Agenda for more information.
